BUSINESS SUPPORT NEEDED TO BRING BACK POPULAR SOAPBOX EVENT!

One of Bradford’s most popular events is scheduled to head back to the city centre, with the Super Soapbox Challenge returning in 2025 – but only if external sponsorship funding can be secured.

Attracting nearly 50,000 visitors to the city over the last three years, the action packed event has become one of Bradford’s event highlights and a huge boost to city centre traders.

Bradford BID (Business Improvement District) will again be the main sponsor of the event. However more business support is needed to guarantee the event can take place.

Jonny Noble, Bradford BID Chief Executive said: "We would love to see the Super Soapbox Challenge roll back into Bradford for another year – especially with it being our City of Culture year! It's more than just an event—it’s a symbol of our city’s vibrancy and community spirit. We’re calling on local businesses to partner with us in making this year’s challenge our biggest success yet."

"The Soapbox Challenge has become a signature day for Bradford, with streets lined with visitors and creating a lasting impact for local shops and cafes. We’re proud to support it, but we need our business community to join us and help bring this beloved event to life once again."

The summer event is expected to draw crowds of over 15,000 who will line the course which starts on Kirkgate, before heading down Bank Street and ending on Tyrell Street.

Andrew Pearson, Super Soapbox Challenge Event Director, said: "The Soapbox Challenge is an event that brings everyone together—from families cheering on the sidelines to local businesses proudly displaying their brands. This year’s event promises surprises and unforgettable moments for racers and spectators alike, and it’s an ideal chance for businesses to showcase themselves before a massive, captivated audience."

Ian Ward, Chair of Bradford BID adds: “After three years of successful events, we’re building up to make 2025 a milestone for the Super Soapbox Challenge in Bradford. It’s a golden opportunity for the Bradford business community to show what’s possible when we all come together for an event that’s about joy, pride, and unity.”

Last year, 23 teams took part in the event and it’s hoped this year over 30 businesses and charities will enter a cart into the race.
