Bradford residents can win £1,000 by nominating business

A NATIONAL competition is giving people the chance to win £1,000 simply by nominating their favourite business.

The UK’s Favourite Local Business 2026 competition offers Bradford residents a chance to win a share of £2,000 in Town & City Gift Cards, including the Bradford City Centre Gift Card, by nominating a business they believe deserves special recognition.

The competition, supported by Bradford BID, is free to enter and open to all types of businesses—shops, restaurants, salons, hotels, attractions and services.

Nikki Chadburn, business communications manager at Bradford BID, said: "The Bradford City Centre Gift Card was introduced in 2021 to drive footfall and spend into the city for the benefit of our local businesses and that is exactly what it has done, with over £250,000 in cards sold to date.

"Backing the UK’s Favourite Local Business is another way that we can support our city businesses, shining a light on the work that they do in this national competition.

"With £2,000 in Bradford City Centre Gift Cards as a possible prize, this is an opportunity to highlight an amazing business in Bradford, whether a local shop, restaurant, salon, hotel, attraction or other local business."

The business with the most nominations will receive a £1,000 Town & City Gift Card, while one of the people who nominated the winner will also receive a £1,000 Town & City Gift Card.

The Bradford City Centre Gift Card can be spent at more than 120 businesses, including national retailers such as Next, Cineworld, JD Sports and Primark, as well as independents such as Blossoms, Pizza Pieces, Tiffin Coffee, Nightrain and Darley Street Kitchen.

The competition launch coincides with new research from Town & City Gift Cards showing that 99 per cent of people want to support local businesses, with 73 per cent saying it has become more important over the past year.
